Perfect Your Sewing Skills! Register for Martwayne’s Bodices, Shirts & Dress-Making Course – Begins 8 July 2015
Yes yes! And this is the VERY FIRST of our July 2015 Courses and the VERY FIRST time we are running this Course. Yes! This is the launch of this particular course and I think it will be great! Why? Because I have received quite a few enquiries from people who want to learn how to make shirts and dresses and from others who want to improve on and perfect their sewing skills. So we decided to merge these 2 frequent requests we get into one great intensive course! 😀
Great! So what is this Course about?!
Well… The Short Course in Bodices, Shirts & Dresses (actually it won’t be so short for those going for the weekend option, hence the reason for the change in name…) focuses on exactly what the name suggests – Bodices, Shirts and Dresses! And those who sew know there is a whole lot to cover when learning how to make stunning dresses!
The beauty about this course is that we will not only focus on the patterns required for a proper fit to your clothes but also concentrate on the finishing which I know is a big challenge for quite a few designers I have chatted to. Of course, seeing I could not just develop a Course on proper finishing, I decided to incorporate it into this Course. 😀
Here are the details of the Course….
About the Bodices, Shirts & Dressmaking Course:
This Course is only open to those who can sew… (“sowwee”…. Beginners need to register for and complete our Beginners Course where we teach how to sew “from scratch” first before they can move on to this Course).
How it Will Run:
Due to the volume of work involved in this Course (and there is a whole lot of work – variations, collars, sleeves, closures, necklines, etc), we have had to split the Course into 2 Modules (similar to our previous Levels 2a and 2b):
Module 1 teaches the foundation blocks for a proper fitted bodice and dress, a strapless dress and a fitted shirt with collar, sleeves, plackets and types of button closures; and
Module 2 teaches the variations to the blocks learnt in Module 1 – which is really a whole lot of work.
Each Module is a separate course meaning participants will register for each one separately. Please note that you can only register for Module 2 only after completing Module 1.
Duration & Fees:
Weekday Option: 4 weeks (three times a week)
Course Fees: N45,000. There is an extra one-off fee of N7,500 for the toolkit.
Please note that if you have registered for any of our previous sewing courses, you will no longer require a toolkit.
Weekday Option: 8 weeks (three times a week)
Course Fees: N75,000
Please note that Module 2 is optional but I highly recommend it. There really is a lot to learn in both Modules. You can register for a Module at a time or both if you prefer.
Classes are from 11am to 5pm.
As always is our Training Centre in Surulere, Lagos, about a 2 minute drive from the National Stadium. Due to limited seats, we can only send the venue details to those who register for the Course. BUT if you want to visit us ahead of time to be sure we are genuine, please feel free to contact us through any of the means below so we can schedule a time for your visit.
Discounts & Payment Options (applicable only to the fees and not the toolkit):
There are 3 payment options available:
Full Payment for Modules 1 and 2 by 3 July, 2015 attracts a 15% discount on the total fees.
Should you wish to pay for Module 1 first and pay for Module 2 later, you get a 10% discount off the Module 1 fees. If you pay for Module 2 by the deadline date announced during Module 1 (likely to be 7 August but will be reconfirmed), you also get a 10% discount off the Module 2 fees.
You can also pay for each Module in a maximum of 2 instalments before the Course begins.
Module 1 will be N35,000 + N7,500 upfront and the balance of N10,000 payable halfway through the Module.
Module 2 will be N60,000 upfront and the balance of N15,000 payable halfway through the Module.
If you do go for this option, please note that you are not entitled to the discount but it is still easier on your pocket! 😀 But please do register on/before 3rd July, 2015 to enable us prepare for you and get your materials ready.
